- Thankfully, those faith-healer ads starring David Wright have been pulled. I'm happy to hear that the Mets don't believe in that craziness, and glad that ads that looked so cheap and tacky will no longer be shown in the greatest city on Earth. Seriously, those things looked like something you'd see on public-access television in [insert random rural area here].
- Meanwhile, New York's other third baseman got pulled for a defensive replacement late in the Yankees-Mariners game because of his Chuck Knoblauch impersonation-uh, I mean "swollen toe." Showing great humility in the face of humiliation, E-Rod reminded the press that he had a "brilliant" day in the field on Sunday. Now that's the way to win people over after an embarrassing performance!
- Another favorite of Mets fans put on quite a show in Arizona last night. Go here, click where it says "Duncan ejected," and enjoy the antics of Angel Hernandez. Even John Kruk thought that was unprofessional!
- Ben Shpigel of the Times states the obvious: the pitchers who are available as the deadline approaches aren't anything special.
- Of note in the blogosphere: Metstradamus announces the Hall of Hate's newest inductees, while Greg of Faith & Fear lists some of the special things we've seen this year.
Tonight, the Mets begin a 3-game series against the Reds. Pelfrey will make his second major league start, and Reyes will hopefully be back in the lineup. Here's to El Profesor leading off the game with an inside-the-park home run.
